On May 22, 2017, 22 Ariana Grande fans were killed with a handful more injured in a horrific terrorist attack in Manchester England after a concert at Britain’s Manchester Arena, which was part of her Dangerous Woman Tour. One week after the attack, Ariana organized a benefit concert “One Love Manchester” for victims of the attack and all the families that had been affected.
This event took place Sunday at the Old Trafford Cricket Ground in the UK and was her first appearance since returning home after the attack. This benefit concert took place just a day before another attack had taken place Saturday night in London. The second attack sent van crashing into pedestrians on the sidewalk, where three men jumped out attacking people with large knives. Seven civilians lost their lives.
The message for this concert was that love concurs all and that everyone needs to be united in difficult times. Instead of living in fear we need to fight hate with love and unity which is what the world so desperately needs right now.
As a tribute to the bombing Ariana, along with members of her tour, got bee tattoos by a Manchester artist as a symbol of the city’s history in the Industrial Revolution where they were described as being “hives of activity”.
Alone the British Red Cross raised about US $9.4 and after the concert, they added another US $3 million bringing up the total to US $12.4 million raised for aiding Manchester. Along with this, Ticketmaster had also set aside 14,200 seats for original concert goer to attend for free with an additional 35,000 tickets sold to help raise money for the cause.
Many artists came together to support Manchester and Ariana in this memorable event, below are listed everyone who came together along with the songs that were performed:
